The public eye holds too much power. This may seem like a general statement, and an obvious one at that, but it is true. It also isn't something that remains dormant until older years when people are more emotionally equipped and mature enough to handle it. No, it starts when we are mere children. This power creats a great pressure from society to fit an image; a pressure that never goes away, never hides, and never fads For example, there is so much propaganda, and so many stereotypes that rule today's society that images are formed that must be met, or you are not "it". Whether that means not having the latest runway fashions, or being a Victoria's Secret "Angel" as women, or men doing steroids and spending 24 hours in the gym to get six-pack abs. Ultimately, it all comes back to what is "in" and what society considers beautiful.
